The Nanoknee™ Difference: The Same Active Life You’ve Always Loved – But Without the Pain

The average joint replacement surgeries swap out your damaged bone – with heavy collateral damage. You end up with a joint that doesn’t feel or function like your native one, and can’t support the active lifestyle you’re accustomed to.

That’s where Nanoknee™ is different. We do 180 replacements a year and deliver new hips that train as hard as you do – and can keep you moving for decades to come. Our patients routinely experience:

  • A fast recovery: walking around within 60 minutes and returning home in just 2 hours
  • A pain-free return to their favorite sports and activities
  • A new hip that feels natural and moves freely

Hip Pain A Common Problem Affecting All Age Groups

At Nanoknee™, more and more of our patients are presenting with hip problems at younger ages. For these individuals, we use the latest technology to relieve their pain and preserve as much of their native anatomy as possible – so they can stay active longer.

Whether your joint pain requires conservative therapy or surgery, we will work with you every step of the way – educating you on your condition, guiding you through the treatment options, and ensuring you receive the highest level of personalized care.

What Causes Hip Pain?

Disease or Disorder

Hip pain can be caused by a variety of conditions, including osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, osteonecrosis, bursitis, or even a hip fracture.

Work

Ranching and construction are just two of the professions that are very common in California and can stress the hip joint.

Injury

While hip pain is usually thought of as something that happens later in life, you may experience hip trouble at any age, especially after an injury such as falling or twisting, or you may not even remember a specific cause. Even a slight injury that causes us to limp or modify the way we walk can initiate pain in the hip area.

Lifestyle

A hip injury can also occur due to overuse from repeated activity such as jogging, hiking, or biking long distances. These activities stress the hip joint and can cause irritation and inflammation.

Early Intervention = Better Results

No matter what may have caused your hip pain, an early visit to one of our Nanoknee™ locations is the best way to determine the source of your condition and optimal treatment. The sooner you seek help, the better your outcomes will be – and the quicker you’ll be able to return to your favorite sports.

Depending on the underlying cause of your hip pain, there are a number of treatment options available. Mild cases can often be treated best with rest, ice, compression, and elevation. Or, you may need to modify your activities and use inflammation control medication. In more advanced cases, we may recommend a total hip replacement with a modern artificial device.

Is Arthritis the Cause of Your Hip Pain? Understanding Your Condition

Arthritis means "joint inflammation." This inflammation can occur when the smooth covering on the ends of bones wears away (osteoarthritis) or as part of a systemic disease (rheumatoid arthritis).

Either of these conditions can result in stiffness, swelling, tenderness, and discomfort in the hip, often resulting in the gradual restriction of movement. Even the simplest daily activities can become painful, diminishing your mobility and, ultimately, your quality of life. In addition, post-traumatic arthritis may develop after an injury to the joint in which the bone and cartilage do not heal properly.

The Treatment Options

When you visit one of our Nanoknee™s, our hip surgeons will walk you through the various solutions available. We offer an array of conservative and surgical procedures, so we can help resolve your pain no matter how early or advanced your condition is.

Conservative Therapy

For some patients, there are several easy ways to treat arthritis. Resting the hip from overuse, starting a physical rehabilitation program, using anti-inflammatory medication, and getting enough sleep every night can help. In some cases, it’s necessary to lose weight or walk with a cane.

Surgery

If you find you can't enjoy the activities that are important to you, or if your arthritis is in a more advanced stage, a total hip replacement may be required to get you back on your feet without pain.
